Are you a gite owner? This is for you

If you have a gite or other holiday rental property in France, you can post about it here in this thread (and only this thread).

Post a photo and description, offers, last minute deals etc. and let's see where the discussion takes us.

Looking forward to seeing your places!

We have a very nice 2-bed apartment for rent at the Pont Royal Domain in Provence (13), which is on one of France’s top 10 golf courses (…and no we’re not golfers) with the beautiful Luberon mountains curving round and the beautiful Alpilles mountains on the horizon, a very beautiful place to be…and you do not have to be a golfer, as whatever your age, there is sooo much to do here…

Have a look at www.aixpontroyal.com or on www.homeaway.co.uk/435083 (photos bigger on here).

PS! Our change-over day in the summer season is Friday!

Have a nice weekend all!

Rural one bedroom gîte on the borders of Gers and Hautes Pyrenées, at the edge of a small hamlet. Exceptionally quiet and peaceful, new and modernised, please see our website: www.closdecandele.com

Hi - yet more gites here in Brittany. Is it OK we don't have a pool?! Seems to be a feature on all these replies, but then we are only 1.5k from the most glorious beaches. We have three gites (x2,x4 and x6 people) and a two bedroom chambres d'hôtes. So far having a good summer though not 'selling many extras' (dinners, etc) this year. A little availability left for August (some b&b nights and week beginning 23/8 for our Studio (2 person). Then September is fairly free and believe it or not September and October seem to be the best months for the weather in our opinion. www.lescoat-france.com for more détails and prices.

Great for cycling, rando, etc as we are near the GR34 and there are lots of other cyckle and walking tracks nearby.

I have been working with a very dynamic company in UK and they

have created reservations for us but my plans for next year need to

be redirected.

Had the idea of my own guide to the best places to stay in France....

but it seems that everyone has a different idea of what is special....

AND pricing comes into the picture too.

We injected both money and ideas into the refurbishment of our

property and wanted to have that wonderful big garden for clients....

the one which was so rare in London.

We imagined being gardener, char and events organisers for 5 years

and now we are closer to seven years of residence in France.

We will be thinking of moving on to something smaller or another

interesting alternative which allows us to remain in the same area.

No idea of returning to UK.....

IF you fancy looking at the property there are more than 50 pics on

Holiday Cottages and Villas....photos were taken early summer

this year.

PS holiday cottages and Villas is not the company I refer to re change

of direction.

We have a Two bedroom apartment in the centre of Les Gets in the French Alps - as beautiful in summer as it is in the winter. Summer for hiking, road cycling, mountain biking, golf and enjoying nature. Winter for skiing and snow sports. Les Gets is part of the Portes du Soleil ski area which is 12 linked ski resorts through France and Switzerland giving an enormous ski area for all levels. Les Gets offers gourmet dining both on and off the slopes and the village is a wonderful and friendly Savoyard village. Please have a look at our website Soleil de Minuit website

and have a look at the restaurant guide for Les Gets on my blog Taste of Savoie

We have 3 gites in a little hamlet on the southern edge of the Massif Central. We are half way between Rodez and Albi close to the RN88, so it is easy to visit both of these lovely departments from one central location. It is an ideal spot for nature walks, rambles, cyclist fanatics or to just chill-out. You can come on your own, or join up with others as we sleep from 1 to 21 guests. Whilst summer is always booked up well in advance, we often have special offers during Spring and Autumn and really good rates for long stays off peak. If you are interested and want to know more contact me via our website www.tarn-aveyron-gites.com or email juliebutters@yahoo.co.uk

Thanks James a good idea so we can see all the great places to visit in France.
We are in the heart of the Luberon in Provence, we used to run a B&B in the Pas de Calais but have now been here in this wonderful part of Provence for 3 years. Fun having so many different nationalities sitting round the breakfast table, Peter Mayle country and lavender still seem to be a big draw. We have comfortable rooms and two small self catering cottages, any option possible and we do evening meas and tapas style food on request. All rooms have access to kitchens and fridges, necessary here as it gets hot in the summer, has been hot since early May this year. Le Domaine Saint Jean is a small private hamlet, with heated pool, surrounded by vineyards and cherry orchards, near the hilltop villages that attract most visitors to the area. www.ledomainesaintjean.com

B&B and self catering - Luberon

We have one week free from 30th August 2014. 6 bedroom property sleeps 12 with amazing facilities. Discounted rate at €1,995. Contact Sandie on +33 468 20 23 18 or email davidapthorp@btconnect.com

we have Clos de Chinon which we rent in summer.

But in May and June I prefer to offer a foodie sort of 5 day break for adults

without kiddies.

There is a lot of kitchen up keep with gites....We have had no end of cookers

in the few years we have been here. We always have 2 times 5 burner.

Fridges need changing approx. every 2 years.

By providing a great breakfast and cooking for the clients most nights

we carry on with what we did in London.

We can take people to the very special places in the region and our

favourite restaurants.

For the clients there is no shopping, cooking or cleaning....

they just get spoilt.

Hello all,

We are moving ahead with our plans to relocate for retirement to Languedoc. We've received a contract on a house that we're planning to rent for 9 months. I was a bit surprised to find in the contract that we are expected to insure the house for fire, theft, broken glass & flood etc. See below. Is this common in France? We've rented for weeks and up to a month in other parts of Europe and not been required to do this. I've really like your feedback on this please. It seems that the owner's should be doing this as part of owning a house and have been taken into account in determining the cost of rent.

The Lessee must take out insurance against theft, fire, broken glass and flood damage, and for all types of general risks associated with renting furnished property and their household effects, as well as third party insurance cover. Proof of such insurance cover must be shown to the Lessor or the Agent on request. Consequently, the Lessor and the Agent decline all liability for any claims made by their insurers against the Lessee.

Thanks,
Mike

We have a small cottage / gite detached from our new house.

We have used it once for workaways and once so far with a 12 night holiday rental.

Both parties liked it very much so we are encouraged to try more renting.

I got the booking from wimdu and in the last couple of days discovered other similar sites so will be listing there too.

Basically it is a single downstairs bed/sitting room, with seperate kitchen, shower and loo. There is also a loft sleeping space which could be used for guests unannounced visitors if needed.

The main draw is the quiet surrounding, great views and a 20 metre salt pool.

We are charging £60 a night ( 2 nights minimum ) for the remainder of this month with discount for a week, dropping to £50 in September ( also discounted for a weeks .

Pics attached.

We have 2 Gites on our property in Cantobre. Cantobre is a very pretty little medieval hamlet perched on limestone rocks overlooking the Dourbie valley in the Aveyron Department and feel very blessed to be living in such a beautiful place. In the photo, the large house in the centre is our property. Both our Gites are contained there and have their own street level entrances made possible as the house is built against the rock! There is a tourist office worth of information on our website at www.casteldecantobre.co.uk .

Our fully furnished and refined apartments place you in top locations in Paris and Nice. In Nice, find yourself suspended above the Mediterranean in an elegant penthouse [bottom picture]. Or, in Paris’s historic artist’s neighborhood of Montmartre, step outside and begin your mornings at the cafés and boulangeries where locals gather.

Our extensive remodels polished these two French gems to reveal historic architecture, designer interiors, sleek kitchens, and a light, airy feel thanks to soft fabrics and paint colors, huge windows and classic chandeliers.

To make sure you have the trip of a lifetime in Nice or Montmartre, we also provide travel services like transportation arrangements, restaurant recommendations, sightseeing suggestions, and more. (Have a look around this website for a few initial recommendations.)
