CDS (cotizations) on UK state pensions

Hi,

The various guides indicate that UK state pensions are not subject to CDS providing you receive your healthcare via an S1 document from Newcastle.

Apparently the tax people in France have started to ask for copies of S1's and I asked Newcastle for one. Newcastle told me that the tax authorities must request the S1 data from CPAM and that Newcastle will not issue a duplicate S1 for this purpose. If you are asked for your S1 tell them you have spoken to Newcastle and that the tax authorities must contact CPAM for the data.

Cheers

David

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but is it correct that you only get an S1 on retirement if you haven’t worked in France ? So if you work in France, you’re affiliated to the French healthcare system through your work and when it comes to retirement you apply for both your UK and French pension through the French authorities. Because of this you remain affiliated to the French healthcare system but no longer have entitlement to an S1 from the UK and so pay social charges on your pension. Both UK and French amounts. Is that correct ?

If you use the Connexion guide it has a phrase where you declare your pension to be exempt from CDS - you could attach the S1 copy as a back up to the claim.

Last year was my first year with S1 for state pension.

As I have declared my tax online for a few years now, how do I inform the tax office that my S1 status in order not to pay CDS. Fortunately I have copies.

Glad I read most of the posts on SFN. I took the advice proffered and made sure I scanned every document I sent to CPAM and the prefecture. Now have access to copies for les impots! Bravo SFN contributors.
