Wimax ADSL

My only possible access to the Internet is Wimax ADSL as we live in a sparsely populated area of Aquitaine. Were it possible to source a different provider then a change would be effected immediately due to the dire service from this company.

This morning download speed was 0.006mbps, such a level would not have troubled the average escargot. My contract is for 4Mgb download, the charge for which is €35 per month. Never in five years has the download ever exceeded 1Mgb, a typical speed is circa 0.025mpbs.

Despite many emails of complaint there has yet to be a response to a single one. Telephone calls are unanswered or when a message is left the call is not returned.

Apart from terminating my contract, which obviously would leave me devoid of any Internet access, is there any other option available to me? Is there a French equivalent of the UK Trading Standards Authority that me be able to help bring this woeful organization to book?

Does anyone else have experience of LGTEL and have you endured the same experience?

are you sure that LGTL and TSF are the same thing? When I had problems with TSF I looked into moving to LGTL who had an office in Nerac. They sounded deeply asleep.

I'm also with them on a 4meg contract, worst ISP on the planet as you may have seen in my original post.

We are with Territoires sans Fils another wimax Aquitaine stuff, The service was very erratic but since we upgraded to 2 meg the service is very good, cost about 40 E a month.

good luck

Tried that with Orange a couple of years back David. They told us we were part of the line modernisation programme. Then we read in the regional magazine we receive quarterly that the 'whole' department is being upgraded with a map. The map is available online so that we could enlarge it to look closer. There are no plans to upgrade where we are in the next 12 years! In fact, in the post-12-year bracket part of the report said that where it is not economical they will not do it at all. That is the probable truth everywhere. Reduced bills? That suggestion did not even solicit a response.

LGTEL SHOULD (please don't quote me!) have their own mediateur - you could write Accuse Reception asking them to give you the détails of their mediateur within 14 working days of receipt of your letter.

If they still don't respond then you could try le Médiateur des communications électroniques (BP 999 - 75829 Paris Cedex 17) ou l'autorité de régulation des Télécommunications (Square Max Hymans 75015 Paris). I cut and pasted those addresses from this webpage:

http://www.dslvalley.com/dossiers/resiliation/

which might also be useful.

We're in a similar although not quite so dire situation in that we're paying for internet haut debit from Orange, but because it's all slow, slow, slow slow slow in la Creuse the actual speed isn't (haut debit that is!)

We have suggested to Orange that they charge us less until we can actually have the speeds we're paying for but perhaps they thought we were joking!
