Hi for all you ladies near St Jean D'Angely 17400, I am organising a lunch which is part of the LIFT group (Ladies in France Together).

It will be held at Popsy's Restaurant in St Jean D'Angley.  Popsy is the chef and she uses many subtle spices to create a wonderful range of authentic dishes.  This is not about heat, but more about complex flavours designed ...to work together and delight.  Lunch will be served in the welcoming colourful restaurant, so please do come along!!

The menu will start with Onion Bhaji's, then a selection of meat and vegetarian dishes chosen by Popsy to reflect what is in season with rice and nan, followed by dessert.  One glass of wine or juice is included in the price of 16 euros per person. Friday 1st June, at 12.30pm. Popsy Restaurant, 52 rue de la Grosse Horloge, Saint Jean D'Angely 17400

If you are interested, click on the link below to say you're coming!!  Merci:

We've been to the Charlemagne Caves in Angouleme (featured in Living Poitou Charentes magazine).  Can highly recommend a visit. http://web.me.com/tournesol_bp/The_French_Village_Diaries/Blog/Entr...

Do we have any fungi experts? I have taken some interesting photos of a number of different specimens locally, but I am having difficulty in identifying them!

Here is the link to the first few I have uploaded to Flickr.

Just to let you know that September 24th is the start of Cancer Support France Awareness Week. Here in Benest (between Ruffec and Confolens) there are two events to which you are welcome to come: 10h00 - 12h00 Portes Ouverts: The National Office is open to the public. You can find us above the Mairie. Volunteers will be available to talk about the work we do; There will be an opportunity to see and try special head scarves designed for those suffering hair loss; coffee, tea and a delicious cake will be available.
From 12h00 we move to La Charrette Bar Restaurant for a lunch time of light music with The Shantymen and friends. For those with musical talent, this is an opportunity to make music,as well as enjoying a tasty dish from Lorraine's kitchen! Details of all activities around the country are available on the CSF website: www.cancersupportfrance.info

He and his fellows were absolutely stunning, I'm not surprised you were side-tracked. We certainly were - I've never seen them before. Glad I had the camera with me! I am getting better at never going anywhere without it!
