Hello Frank, saw your message about moving to the Creuse, hope this doesn't put you off:it's not a road, it's the river that used to provide water to our mill! Had the lowest overnight temperature since we moved here in 2002 the other night (5/6th Feb) at -19°C: that's colder than the freezer. I broke through the ice this morning - it's just 10cm thick. I'm not going to walk on it, even though I know the water is only about 40cm deep, but I'm sure it would be strong enough to skate on.
On the other hand, it can get above 40° in the summer.
