Hi, again, don't know if any of you know of this FB Page The Strat Club

Hi Rob, thank you so much for spending the time to answer my query. The notion of powered speakers seems the way forward... I didn't think about 'expandability', which also makes sense. The Peavey looks worth checking out, if we do line up with a drummer he has a Yamaha digital kit with its own PA. Thanks again. Ron

Another option is one of the HK Lucas systems that are brilliant and compact but a bit pricy...

I always find that for simplicity/portability/value, you're best with a smallish desk and a couple of powered speakers.  Powered desks can tend to overheat so I try to steer clear.

I like Peavey's PV series for small desks - the PV10 has plenty of inputs for most eventualities (unless you use a full set of drum mikes) and a few effects so you won't need an external reverb/delay unit.  It's about 250€ chez Thomann.

As for active speakers, a pair of 10" RCFs will set you back about 850€ but it's good stuff and they kick out 350w each, so you'll annoy the neighbours at just about any pub/club gig.  If you need more bass response then Peavey do some decent 12"s for about the same price as the RCF 10"s - bit more bulk to lug about though.

What's nice about a setup like this is that, if you need to, you can add bits on further down the line like an active sub (again, if you find the 10" speakers lack a bit of bottom) and/or a third active speaker (maybe an 8") that you can use as a monitor from the aux on the desk.

Hi All, some advice please. I have a regular spot in a Bar in Cap D'Agde which has a good in house PA. The last one I had here I gave away (?) and my last PA in the UK was a Fender Valve jobby. I have just hooked up with an Irish guy and we have a set prepared for gigs this Summer including a regular venue at a Club my buddy has just started. His kit is in Sweden.. I am looking to buy ( probably via Thomann ) a PA  system which is not too cumbersome but also has enough poke for for a decent sized venue. I have Mesa Boogie amps, MIkes etc. but am a bit clueless as to what rig and output might cover most eventualities...any ideas?  Got about a grand. Thanks in anticipation. Ron

Hi, I did this Logo for a Folk Club in Pézenas Herault I have just joined, only to discover that an Association Member had produced one of an inferior quality. The text is amendable, and may of use as a 'Gig Message Board' motif, or whatever. Let me know if is of some use. Or I shall have to put it in a sack with a brick...( know what I mean?)
