Ok folks....

I'm sorry this has taken me so long to get to but since the year started, we have been overwhelmed. I need a secretary. Or a wife. Or both! Anyway, Sab and I have now got a provisional outline for the weekend. Details are below. You can come to all or any parts of the weekend that you like and for those of you who are coming from further afield, we've left you with lots of free time to enjoy all Paris has to offer. If you'd like some suggestions on what to see and where to go, please our man in Paris, Sab Will!

Dates are 1st - 3rd April

Friday !st - Indian Cookery workshop hosted by Chef Anil - my mouth is watering as I'm typing. Time and venue TCB.

Friday evening - drinks - if enough people are interested. I'm going to need some nice person to volunteer to organise and co-ordinate this and select a suitable venue. Anyone?

Saturday 2nd - Sab will be taking you on a guided walk around the centre, focusing on a collection of Paris 'curiosities' - little architectural anomalies, anecdotes and the like.

Saturday evening - drinks - again if enough people are interested - and going on to a restaurant. I'm going to need some nice person to volunteer to organise and co-ordinate this and select a suitable venue. Anyone?

Sunday - Picnic 1pm. Precise location TBC.

At this stage - can you please let us know which parts of the weekend you are going to be attending by posting in the new thread - Paris - who's attending? Thank you!

Hi Catherine,
I would like to attend this weekend especially the Indian cookery course. Count me in. I don't live in Paris so haven't any ideas on venues but let me know if I can help in anyway.
Regards Tess
Sounds fabulous! will be out-of-town just before the 1st, but hope to make one of those cocktail evenings. and DEFINITELY for the pic. Sab can help as much as I can before we leave for the Alps!
Merci, look forward to it....
You've done a good job putting that together Catharine - great.

Hi Tess - welcome to the group and I'm glad we'll be meeting you in Paris!

Randy, maybe you have an idea for a venue for us! No idea how many people there'll be yet, but I'm planning on putting some of the events on the Paris If You Please Meet Up group, so that should bring a few more along...

Stay tuned - more details as we go along, and please do 'register' your interest here. The best thing is to decide what you are coming to and then come to it! :-D It makes it a lot easier for the people organising it, I'm sure you understand.

Having said that, I think Catharine explained that it's not really a formal thing - we honestly didn't have time to organise something like that this time. The idea is for everyone to organise their own transport and accomodation if necessary and just come along to whatever events you like. And each event will be organised by the person whose idea it is! Simple...

I'll post details of the Paris Curiosities Walk here shortly, as well as the picnic. More later :-S

SAB'S 20 QUIRKS & CURIOS WALK

This is a repeat message from the general chat thread to make sure you see it. Here's the Saturday afternoon walk - a gentle stroll through the 1st arrondissement - nice and central - showing you some of the less obvious aspects of the area.

As you know, Paris is rich in history, but also in strange little items and whatnots scattered all over the place. That's what I love, and I'll be sharing as many as I can with you on this walk. Hope to see you there.

To book just sign up on my Paris If You Please Meet Up group (free) and then say you're coming on the walk, which is only €20 per person. NO, I'm kidding, it's free.

I hope to see you in Paris at the beginning of April, and don't forget to bring the sunshine with you!

EARLY SPRING PICNIC on the PONT DES ARTS

This is a repeat message from the general chat thread. So here's the Sunday afternoon event for the Paris weekend.

It's a picnic, which I'm organising through my Paris If You Please Meet Up group to make things easier. It also means that there will be plenty of Paris-based people to meet who share a similar mindset to those of us here, as far as I can make out.

Head over to the event page here to see what it's about. To sign up for the picnic you need to be a member of the Meet Up group (free) which is very easy to do, and may surprise you and give you some ideas if you didn't know about Meet Up it before.

You can book up for this and the walk on Saturday at the same time if you like, but please do so as soon as you can, as the walks tend to get fill up pretty quickly. If you have any probs booking up, just let me know :-D
I live in Paris, so will be attending some of the events. Definitely the picnic--hopefully both of my children will be available to come. And I'd love to bring my son on the walk--so I will try to get over there and sign up.

Hi Sandie, great! Please follow the instructions for booking up for my events (Sat walk / Sun picnic) in the relevant posts on this page - I can't do this for you as the organisation is 'centralised' through my Meet Up group or the admin would be horrible!! Thanks, Sab :-D
