Hi all, I already live in the Paris area so would be delighted to meet the group when dates are arranged.... if I can do anything please feel free to contact me
Hullo Catherine! Put me down for wanting to attend, and if a definite date gets fixed, I'll see what I can do about bringing my guitar and providing some entertainment, or better, MC-ing a sing-along. maybe we could plan on a park, and everyone brings food or drink for a picnic..I kid you not. Maybe Sab and I could scout a few locations together.

I also have hotels I can recommend in the 13th, having gotten married here. Nice, and nice price. OK lemmee know.
That sounds like good stuff David. I'm waiting to speak to Catharine very soon and then the planning will go ahead in earnest.
We're definitely talking the weekend of the 1/2/3 April, so that's the one to pencil in.
Ideas for nice non-pricy hotels would also be very useful. More later, cheers, Sab
Good enough, Sab. In a few weeks, when I've adjusted to the pace of my french classes, and you've talked to Catherine, why don't we meet at Butte-aux-Caille and I'll take you on a walking tour of my area of the 13th...
every idea (hotels, good park etc....) is within a four block radius. Also easy walking distance to rue Mouffetard.
(Hey!..my bookmarks just arrived...thanks! I have three french textbooks, so these will get put right to use..Cheers!)
Ok folks....

I'm sorry this has taken me so long to get to but since the year started, we have been overwhelmed. I need a secretary. Or a wife. Or both! Anyway, Sab and I have now got a provisional outline for the weekend. Details are below. You can come to all or any parts of the weekend that you like and for those of you who are coming from further afield, we've left you with lots of free time to enjoy all Paris has to offer. If you'd like some suggestions on what to see and where to go, please our man in Paris, Sab Will!

Dates are 1st - 3rd April

Friday !st - Indian Cookery workshop hosted by Chef Anil - my mouth is watering as I'm typing. Time and venue TCB.

Friday evening - drinks - if enough people are interested. I'm going to need some nice person to volunteer to organise and co-ordinate this and select a suitable venue. Anyone?

Saturday 2nd - Sab will be taking you on a guided walk around the centre, focusing on a collection of Paris 'curiosities' - little architectural anomalies, anecdotes and the like.

Saturday evening - drinks - again if enough people are interested - and going on to a restaurant. I'm going to need some nice person to volunteer to organise and co-ordinate this and select a suitable venue. Anyone?

Sunday - Picnic 1pm. Precise location TBC.

At this stage - can you please let us know which parts of the weekend you are going to be attending by posting in the new thread - Paris - who's attending? Thank you!
Hi I'm new to the site, did this event happen or is it still being scheduled? I'd love to get together with others as I live in Paris...thanks!

Hi Elizabeth! Great to have you here but the 'event', for what it was, has come and gone!

In the end it consisted of two events I organised, one of which was well-attended and the other a bit of a rainy picnic on the Pont des Arts (pictures still to come), but boy did we get some envious looks! I would even say that there are pictures of us all over the world by now, the number of people who seemed to think a bunch of people gorging on goodies around a windy bench was photoworthy!

I'm only aware of one (yep, count her!) SFN member who made it in the end, Sandie - good to see you Sandie!!!, and she came over on Eurostar for the event! Maybe Jennifer and her son also came through SFN, I'm not sure any more :-S Luckily they were able to take part in my Paris Quirks walk on the Saturday where we discovered a whole bunch of weird and wonderful things between place de la Concorde and the Louvre, finishing up with a coffee bien sûr.

Anyway, check out the Meet Up group already linked to above for all the up-coming Paris events I'm organising and get involved - see you soon :-D (you can see one of Paris' strangest quirks in the picture above - hehe!)
