YOUR INHERITANCE!

The European Union news agency  ‘Eur-Active’ on March 1st.  announced an important new item of legislation which might (or might not!) affect the hundreds of thousands  of British citizens in Europe.   It concerns inheritance.  The item is produced verbatim below.

This piece of legislation brings into sharp focus why the British citizen needs some form of representation at Westminster!

Britain has opted out of this legislation.

Renouncing British Citizenship

Posted on February 29, 2012 at 10:39 19 Comments

James Preston - a businessman in Spain (where you cannot have dual Nationality!) has fought a long battle against the British Government to have the right to Representation in the Westminster Parliament.  He brought a case before the High Court in London, using the offices of solicitors 'pro bono publico'.  The cost was high in money and time.  The case went against him.

He has in despair decided to renounce British Nationality and take out Spanish.

Dear Brian

Welcome to the network - we hope you find it useful!

If you haven't already done so, don't forget to upload a photograph of yourself so NOT your cat or your company logo (!), to your profile (use the setting button on the right hand side of your page) and once you've completed your profile information, you will be able to see your location on the 'Members Map'. This feature is a great way to find other people in your area so do make sure you add your location - that way other people will be able to find you too! And do add as much information to your profile as possible. Again, that way SFN members searching for people with similar interests, hobbies and occupations will be able to connect with each other.

Feel free to join any groups that look interesting or suggest your own. The groups can all be found in the social tab at the top of the page. If you're a blogger you can also add your blog posts to SFN - we love reading them!

You can list items for sale in the Bring Buy and Sell group and add any events to the Events page. And come and say 'Hi' in the chat window - we're all very friendly!

Best wishes
Catharine and James
