"Finn is another sfn member who is very knowledgeable on French and EU law and admin. I agree that the URSSAF, as I understand it, is there for taking contributions from working people, not retired, but I'll leave someone with more expert…"

"Thanks Andrew. The URSSAF website clearly gives the impression that they deal with people in business. That makes this whole thing very odd and, very expensive. Who, may I ask, is Finn? Cheers Graham"

"I pay URSSAF but only because I'm an autoentrpreneur/work. Sounds rather odd but could be due to you net yet being official retirement age here (if that's the case) - you need Finn on this one!"

Buying A New LHD Car

After almost nine years of good service the car that I bought when we first arrived in France needs replacing. With the low depreciation rate here an almost new low kilometer car would cost me almost as much as a brand new vehicle and most of these are well above my current budget.Trawling the Net I came across 1st Car Imports who are a UK brokerage company specialising in the sourcing of LHD cars at what appears to be huge savings. Basically, they…See More

Dear Graham

Welcome to the network - we hope you find it useful!

If you haven't already done so, don't forget to upload a photograph of yourself so NOT your cat or your company logo (!), to your profile (use the setting button on the right hand side of your page) and once you've completed your profile information, you will be able to see your location on the 'Members Map'. This feature is a great way to find other people in your area so do make sure you add your location - that way other people will be able to find you too! And do add as much information to your profile as possible. Again, that way SFN members searching for people with similar interests, hobbies and occupations will be able to connect with each other.

Feel free to join any groups that look interesting or suggest your own. The groups can all be found in the social tab at the top of the page. If you're a blogger you can also add your blog posts to SFN - we love reading them!

You can list items for sale in the Bring Buy and Sell group and add any events to the Events page. And come and say 'Hi' in the chat window - we're all very friendly!

Best wishes
Catharine and James
