Celeste, isn't Ireland's financial problem due principally to over building on speculation which is what happened in the US and Spain? How did opening Ireland to other EU banks cause Ireland's current indebtedness?

Celeste, I am an American living in France since 1993. However, my father was irish from Newport, County Mayo. I've never been to Ireland but plan to go some year when this recession abates. Where are you from in Ireland?

In the US there is a comical refrain among Irish-Americans that there are only two types of people in the world "Irish and those who wish they were". LOL
