Hi again, Variations is closing down for summer break, next show is I think music hall type thing so all the backdrops etc stored in my barn will have to be checked and changed for the new show whatever it is, we will also be preparing for a more serious work in the new year more later.
I would like you to have a copy of our last concert called Entent Cordiale with pieces by Handel Purcell etc for the english and Bizet Offenbach etc for the french, could we meet up somewhere halfway between your place and mine for a coffee or lunch I leave it up to you?
Bill.
Hi Lynn, I've been in france over 20 years, like most music, afraid I'm a trad fan from way back, we have a music/music hall association down here called VARIATIONS we put on concerts usualy clasical but have also done lighter shows we have a good mix french and english, I don't sing but help out in the background and record the shows and produce CDs for the members, my wife Iris was one of the founder members and was the accompanist for many years so music was always part of my life. Iris died over four years ago, so having so many friends has helped me get through the black times. thats enough for now.
Regards.
Bill.
I particularly enjoy Anthem because it was part of a laser show at the London Planetarium many years ago. I used to go to the Newcastle City Hall on a regular basis to see bands. Happy days.
I was born and lived in Carlile until I was about 30 when I had my first seven year stint in France.
Back here now since 2004 and getting itchy feet again.
In reply to your question about musical instruments. I bought myself a bass some time ago and it was gathering dust until my so nicked it. He is playing guitar and coming on quite well. The other son likes drums and has an electronic kit in his room at UNI.
Salut Lynn: Well...47 is better! Don't run too fast - I'll catch up with you in August! :) Felicitations on your French knowledge. I'm sure you can teach me on the trickier parts of la langue de Moliere. I do enjoy Spanish but French is the true passion - have been studying it "plus ou moins" at least since the early 90s. I remember enthusiastically showing co-workers the "Dion Chante Plamondon" I purchased in 1995 and they thought I was a bit fou. Oh well...other francophiles understand! Are you a fan of certain styles/types of French music? (I also enjoy listening to "Everything Must Go" by SD again and again.) A bientot et bon mercredi, Michael
No probs - contact me when you get back. Hope youhave a good trip.
We had about 4 inches of snow here on Saturday but it mostly melted yesterday. However they are threatening a lot more tomorrow night. We will have to wait and see!
I think Issoudun would be fine as a meeting point. Ive looked on internet as there is a Carrefour supermarket there so we could always meet there as should be straight forward finding it!!! At the moment I'm arranging a trip back to England so can't commit to a definate date until i know what dates im going away but as you pointed out we must do it sooner rather than later! So very soon!!! Looking forward to meeting you! I will let you know as soon as possible! take care for now.........Lynn
Hi Lynn - according to Mappy it would take me 1h10 to get to Issoudun. Would you say that is about half way? I have no idea where to meet in Issoudun as I dont know it, but I am sure we can figure out something! When would you like to do it? I dont have any serious commitments apart from Thurs 25th Nov and Sunday 12 Dec. Would prefer sooner rather than later in case the weather deteriorates. Sue
Hi Lynn
Thanks for your reply. Would be nice to meet up as I havent yet met any of the Allo members. Do you want to meet half way or I dont mind driving to yours if you like. Let me know. Sue
Hi Lynn
Welcome to the group. I am trying to organise it a bit better and would welcome feedback on what you would like from the group. Could you say what towns you are near and which departement please. I too am single and have travelled a lot and enjoy the theatre (used to make costumes) but there isnt much of that round here (central France)
