Slow PC

I have just taken delivery of a Lenovo Laptop with this spec:

Lenovo Ideapad 100 15.6-Inch Laptop (Black) - (Intel Core i5-5200U, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB Storage, Windows 10 Home)

I am replacing, well I was, my old HP with this spec:

AMD Turion 64 x2 Mobile Technology TL-64 2.4GHz, 3.00 GB memory with Windows 7

The Lenovo is approx 3 to 4 times slower at everything that I can test, for example:

1) starting Excel and loading spreadsheet takes 15 secs on the HP and between 45 and 60 secs on the Lenovo. (It is a complex spread sheet)

2) Starting IE, and accessing the Santander banbk account takes 15 to 20 seconds on the HP and well over a minute on the Lenovo.

In some respects the HP system has more clutter and I was about to clean it up after the Lenovo was properly installed.

This makes no sense to me at all, quite unexpected and counter intuitive.

But before I send it back does anyone have any ideas as to the cause and possible solution.

Thanks

Peter S

As the unit is brand new and would have had all the correct drivers imaged onto it at the factory I'd say the hard drive is faulty and reading at a snails pace. Send it back.
