Where do you shop?

Just thought, when I needed LHD Headlights I bought from http://WWW.axxauto.com a French site with a good discount-prix pour les artisans- can’t say any more other than they do what they say on the box. They also do clutch kits etc.

Congratulations to him, I’ve been to that prefecture, in can be hell in there!

All paperwork done - did not cost anything as his car is over 10 years old so now waiting for carte gris to come through in the mail with new number plate details. Helps to take a local French person with you to do all the talking!

Was he successful?!

Spooky!

My other half is at Agen Prefecture re-registering his UK RHD car as we speak!

And if you do have to visit the prefecture to reregister your U.K. vehicle this site is full of useful info

Not strictly shopping but kind of!
Haven’t tried it but if it saves a trip to the prefecture…I probably will next time! If anyone has tried this, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks

Thanks Karen,
I got my first pair of glasses in the Uk when I went over in December. I really need them for reading and the PC, saying that, I need to put them on !!!
Thats better… I can see now ! I have the prescription , so will look into the Hong Kong site to get a second pair…
Many thanks…

Thanks George,

The chemist site is very good and cheap, will be putting an order in today…

Well said Catharine, what a good idea and thank you Roger for your comment. I only gave a link re Insurance, as I thought it would be of interest to you as you had recommended a site dealing with motor insurance. I think Roger, if you look, I have posted some interesting links to other shopping sites on this Forum, perhaps they may also interest you. The one for car parts is very good… It has saved many friends lots of money…

Thanks Sandra and James for the links

Talking car parts, a friend gave me this site last week, she said it saved her a fortune !! http://www.oscaro.com/

Well hopefully one of the members will have used the service and be able to recommend it  but in any case , I am going to pull out all the links that have been posted in this thread and then compile a ‘shopping list’ on a separate page. This should make it easier for members to use should they need to source cheap contact lenses or bacon or whatever else.

And no, we don’t make any profit from adverts, blatant or otherwise! I was very clear at the outset that I am happy for people, especially those who are contributing to the site, to promote themselves in any way they see fit. I hope that by being open and accessible, the site will encourage responsible user behaviour - which so far seems definitely to be the case!

Anyway, thank you for your input and a good point about having another place for services. This is an excellent idea and one that had always been planned. I think we are now at a stage where this is a viable option so…watch this space! C x

The idea of your post was to list sites that have provided a quality service to the members, while I accept that members may offer services themselves that offer of those services should be in another place and surely if you are hosting this site you would wish to make a profit from blatent adverts? Or do you?

For those of you with Land Rovers

Land Rover parts online ordering from UK distributor delivery 5 pounds per 30kg

http://www.paddockspares.com/

Living in the States for nearly 7 years I was lucky to be able to purchase contact lenses cheaply online. Now living in France, my contact lenses were running out and I did not have an up to date prescription. I was recommended the following site - no hassall and delivery to France:

http://www.lenscatalogue.co.uk

We purchase all our Land Rover Discovery parts from the following sites who also deliver to France:

http://www.tamarcountrycars.co.uk
JPR Motor Parts - Ebay shop on http://www.ebay.co.uk

Well I think to be fair Roger, that as this site is still in its infancy in terms of numbers of posts and categories, that posting about insurance, following on from your post about insurance price comparison sites, was fair enough. I certainly don’t object! C x

Thank you but the question is where do you do your shopping not what do you sell!!!
