...part of a Guardian story called "Five Stories buried by Brexit"......(Ok, it's known for being a somewhat left-wing rag), but I am thinking that the 'Waspies' organisation may get somewhere with sorting out the unjust situation of women retirees who lose out over the new pension arrangements.....I do hope so...
So this debate didn't get anywhere and is faithfully and interestingly recorded in Hansard...despite a persistent and valiant attempt by Labour's Rachel Reeves, to get them to accept that there is a problem and the present situation is not just & fair...
We must seize the opportunity to keep this issue at the forefront of things...a female politician who has the power to put this right and doesn't, would after all, lose all credibility.......
I suppose your going to say she's a 'token' female......but at least the Tories are on the brink of electing one.....labour talented females don't seem to get anywhere (they could have made much more of Glenda Jackson for instance...) and why isn't Rachel Reeves in the running for their leader. I think they are very likely to be stuck with Jeremy Corbin , if all they can field is Angela Eagle (who sobbed as she was describing how Corbin was just not up to the job).....
Having just looked up Angela Eagle's credentials, past political history, I revise my comment about her (weedy sobbing, not being tough enough) and maybe now a bit sly, being as now she's a contender for his job...
,,,She is undeniably bright (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angela_Eagle)..... but she needs to work on her appearance & general presentation.....to convince people that she is up to handling the stress of the job and has 'gravitas'......
