A little poo problem

Hi I am looking for advice I am about to buy a property that has a vey limited amount of garden space it’s a barn and I want to convert it into 2 gites,so I need to Install a compact septic fosse,it has to be compact as there is not enough land to have the normal filter system.

Has anyone else had this problem or could point me in the right direction of small fosse systems that work. The gites will be for four people and only used during the summer months.

Steve, I suggest you give SFN member Keith Lacey a call, he is very knowledgable on the compact systems.

The second system is electicity free which many SPANC prefer for houses which are unoccupied for periods such as holiday homes and gites. Both prouce a treated waste which can be discharged into a local ditch.

Mmm interesting I hadn’t thought of a dry system …will have a look thanks

How about a 'dry toilet' system instead. It should properly be called a 'composting toilet' and is a dry toilet system that uses an essentially aerobic processing system that treats excreta, typically with no water or at most small volumes of flush water, via composting or managed aerobic decomposition. The people self-building in front of us have a small one and to be honest it is much nicer than our fosse then bac degraisseur to ground filtration system, plus cheaper and actually easier to install.
