Congrats from me too JB but all I remember about '76 is sweltering all through July and August then going on holiday to Cornwall in September when it pissed down. 
The trip down was interesting. We had 4 kids, one of mine and 3 of Pat’s and just a Moggie Minor pickup with a canvas cover to drive there. The 3 oldest were put on a train in Derby we squashed in the cab to Bristol. Met the train loaded 3 into the back for the rest of the journey. No seat belts and all loved the splendid adventure.

Yeah, the bloody Minister for Rain. 
I was in my 5th year with my late ex-husband. And like David remembers sweltering all through July and August, so do I. But it got me a sun tan ready for our one-month holiday in Malindi, Kenya. We had a super time there but came back to earth with a bang when we arrived home to thunderstorms and the usual UK weather. Fond memories though 
Congrats John - little chance of matching that.
Playing backgammon on the lawn with the Iranian student from the flat below while eating lots of pistachios and listening to our girlfriends going on about Björn Borg.
