Accident prone

I have always been accident prone. It drives me nuts. If there is a hole, I shall fall down it. People may remember my Blackberry down the well (RIP) and other events I have mentioned.

So, there we were. As people may know, last night was the darkest for 50 years or something like that. EDF decided to 'enhance' the darkness. Then a cat jumped on the window sill and yowled to come in. So in compassion, and wishing to be able to sleep, I got up and headed for the door to let her in. Bang, crash, wallop! One of the dogs' baskets had been moved a bit. One of those large plastic ones that a large human fits in. Which is what I did. In I went, straight on my gammy shoulder, bashed my cheek on the side of the basket, scraped a leg, which bled profusely because I have blood thinners for my heart and hurled my glasses across the room, bending the frame. Outcome, I have an eye to rival most heavyweight boxers today, so the bent glasses don't matter because I can't put them on properly. I had to do some important shopping today, but cannot see to drive...

I've been doing such things since I could walk, so roughly 64 years. DOES ANYBODY KNOW A REMEDY, I have had enough...

If only the medication would allow!

My missus teaches dance. rides horses, camels & most things on four legs but she's a calamity when her feet get too close to the ground. She trips over joints in tiles & swears they are trying to "get her" Oh yeah! she's also the world record glass knocker over. It's never a matter of "if" but "when". Invite her for drinkies at your peril!!!

I can totally understand why.
You have my deepest sympathy. My husband has only just started slipping and, touchwood, no serious accidents as yet.

Sorry to hear about your fall , I hope you get better quickly, take care.

Well Brian, although you have some of my sympathy, the majority of it goes to your wife. I am married to a 6ft 4ins accident prone man!!! Its a nightmare, although he surpassed himself this Christmas. We were visiting relatives in London and on Christmas morning he went outside, came back in, slipped on the tiled floor and, because he is so tall, there was nowhere for his foot to go, smashed up against a wall!!! 4 broken bones in ankle, broken tibia and fibula and a cast from toes to hip. All of Christmas spent in hospital and discharged to........................where????? No one with downstairs loo and bedroom (only at home in France). Private air ambulance home - I will not tell you the cost but suffice to say deposit on small house in France. Still, we are now home and into the French system so just a 4 month healing period before he sets off and does something else. I CANT STAND it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am tucked up in bed getting rid of a chest infection which materialised from the cold I caught from my grandson during their Christmas visit. It is on the mend and I want to be up and about for New Year’s Day, when we visit friends in the Maconnais.
I am also hoping that I will be able to avoid taking any antibiotics.

So far so good.

Good health to everyone!

Too bl**dy right about 2013! Let's all huff and puff and blow the year out (roughly 23.59 tomorrow anyway) ;-)

Not long now...........!

Luckily it was only my dignity that was damaged!

Izzy ran towards me in a shop in Beziers today, slid and went head first into the glass panel of the shop counter (much to my surprise as I'd left her outside with Daddy). Luckily her head is apparently made of Rubber and she bounced off. She has a lovely egg on her head now. I've administered my emergency arnica and a big hug. I was expecting her to wail loudly but she didn't make a noise other than the 'boing' itself. I've been watching her since and she seems ok...once again I reiterate everyone I know needs to wrap up in cotton wool and stay safe until the New Year. I am convinced 2013 is bad for our health!

Love it! All together now.....

Ha ha ha, Brian. I'm singing.

:-D hohoho, all together: limping through through the snow, on a three-legged horse sleigh, etc!

Oh no!!! Are you both on crutches now????x

Well if it makes you feel any better, I went arse over tit and slid down one of those planted banks in the Leclerc car park today whilst trying to take a short cut....

Jaysus Brian! Hope you are better soon. I'm beginning to think I should just compose a suitable "get well" message which I will send to you at random dates each month. Any point in saying "take care"? Anyways and howsoandever, Happy New Year. xx

I still have my ballet shoes, honestly! The leotard... I cannot imagine the kind of accident that might cause. Neither would resolve the problem of holes or barriers appearing where my feet go though...

Oh Brian!!!

The only remedy I could offer would be Yoga or ballet lessons to get you more co-ordinated.......the idea of you in a leotard......I'd have to join too!!!!XX

Oh Dear! Hope your feeling better soon. My Hubby is very accident prone too he just keeps on doing silly things like cutting his thumb on a spoon! I usually try to do any home improvements and gardening myself because God knows what he'd be like near any power tools.
