Additional taxation of non-residents holding French property is abandoned

Dear All,

I thought I would mention an important piece of information to confirm that the new additional tax for non-resident owners of French property has been scrapped.

The amendment to discard this tax had been rejected by the Assemblée Nationale (the deputies’ chamber) but has been accepted by the Sénat under the pressure of a group of senators “representing the French established outside France” (a representation that does not currently exist within the Assemblée). This rejection, led officially by Senator Robert del Picchia but influenced by many political and diplomatic sides, has therefore been agreed to protect the French expatriates although it will be applied to all non-residents.

I am sure this will come as a relief for many but other measures are still pending to be voted and July will see many changes in French taxation.
