I’ll post the message when I can and when I can I shall go see them. I’m not even sure the danger is on the inside or the outside. They’re offering compensation and I’m sure the danger is very slight but they definitely said not to use it
TBH the thermal mass is an insulating buffer, and it allows you to ignore brief spells of higher or lower temperatures. But like any closed system, you have to manage what come in to maintain the environment at a stable temperature. Heat will pass in or out slowly, as you would expect.

You’ve got me interested and I’ve googled your machine to find out more.
However it does say something about being successfully used to heat “mid-season” .
In colder weather another form of heating might be needed… (aargh)

How strange, R290 being propane obviously carries a risk but the unit should be constructed to a specification that minimises the risk (thickness of pipework, compressor construction, evaporator etc. Simply lifting it higher off the floor would reduced any potential overheating I suppose but propane being heavier than air, should there be a leak, is still going to end up in the same place. Fridges etc that now use R290 are not likely to be mounted 1.8m from the floor.
This is a monoblock unit, no outside unit? I suppose those that wrote the spec for no propane allowed inside a dwelling have written the alert notice because it counters what they wrote a few years back. I see problems if they dont address the difference between a sealed, small amount of propane refrigerant and a gas blow torch or heater.

Have you tried contacting them via the Qlima website?
I am a great believer in going straight to the top. EG CEO of Orange when we had problems 100 euros reimbursed.
Contact forms via websites are only seen by minions who won’t send stuff up the line (even worse in France).
The guy in Holland needs to know, This is serious stuff - 2 Qlima monoblocs cost us over 4,000 euros plus installation costs. If I use them (which at the moment I must) we will uninsured if anything happens.
They make much on their websites about their reliability.
Sue, are the units subject to a product recall? If not its a warning, not from the manufacturer? But the body who monitor and write cautions? Whilst I totally agree with you getting info from the top and clarification on going, the small amount of gas inside the unit will be well sealed away from potential risk.
I want to find out whether the parent company knows and what their responsibilty is. Qlima is a major brand for them. I’d be surprised if they want it being bad mouthed.
They are going to have to prove their kit is safe. We were told in the manual we could set it 10cm above the ground.
Interesting, the thought of product recall on kit like this - two largish holes through the wall!
We need to get this clarified. we are going to be putting our house and cottage on the market in the nearish future. I don’t want an uncertainty of this magnitude hanging over the sale.

They would have been contacted by the regulatory body.
From Geoffrey’s post, is your model mentioned? Geoffrey’s post also mentioned a recall on those models so maybe a weakness somewhere in the manufacture but I still fail to see why mounting 1.8m from the floor is ok unless its through potential contact from a mecanical shock, maybe a vaccum cleaner etc.
