We live in Chateauneuf la Foret (87) and for the past few days have had aircraft circling all day and late into the night. Not the usual air traffic into and out of Limoges. Can anyone tell me what this is? Could it be the military burning off excess fuel?

Modern cartographic surveys still use aircraft for closer detail work that satellites still cannot do. They sweep areas in semi circles for hours and perhaps days for a wider area. We had the same here two years ago , however our maire knew that was the case and word spread round. May just be that.
