American postal voting

When sending postal votes to the USA, particularly by UPS, FedX, or similar, it is wise NOT to request ‘Signed for’ delivery.
Many electoral registration offices are not staffed every day of the week, or perhaps just mornings or afternoons, and if your vote package can’t be signed for because the office is closed, then UPS / FedX will return your vote back to you as ‘undeliverable’.
Clearly this is something you would not wish to happen.
So please do NOT request a signature upon delivery.

This is true but unless you are voting in a highly contested vote which is rare it will go in the trash anyway and not be counted.

In my state, Florida, ballots can be faxed, which is what I have done. A fax machine is not needed as there are software emulators that serve the purpose.

I don’t agree with that happening but I can see the logic behind it in certain circumstances. I mean if say 5,000 postal votes have been received, but one candidate is 10,000 ahead by the ‘in person’ voting on election day, then if all the postal votes were to be for the second place candidate it would not change the result. However, such a system does not give a true result as to by how much in percentage points the winning candidate succeeded.
If there is firm evidence that postal votes are not being counted, surely this is a matter to be raised with the election authorities.
I would encourage everyone who is eligible to vote to do so, even if they think it is a lost cause because every vote counts as an expression of the mood of the electorate.
