Anglo Info- defunct forum

It’s gone very quiet at Anglo Info aka Smart Expat. Has it folded its tent in the night and stolen away?

Gone into liquidation as I understand it (from my OH) which leaves those that paid to advertise 000’s out of pocket.

For all it’s failings AI did help a lot of people and offer a platform for trades to promote their businesses.

Good bleeding riddance!
All the more reason now to ensure that SF survives for the future…
That said, we used AI quite a bit in the day for buying and selling bits and pieces but the new owners just got too greedy and distant in the end but like so many of the ex-pat subscription newspapers (which we paid in advance for - 2 as I recall) so perhaps using the “ex-pat” ndp spells disaster

Over the years we got a lot of enquiries for our business through our ‘free’ ad on AI and also like many others bought and sold tons of stuff including vehicles.

strong textOver the years I had many questions answered on AL relating to local events and services. We are all learning about life here when we arrive and it was good to pass on the knowledge to others. There were the usual nutters who seemed to love to hate and the admin did not seem to be able to tackle the problem.

They’re back!!! I ran the Madrid site for a while and just after I Ieft they closed down owing a lot of money to my ex-clients. Well they’re back with the Smartexpats website. I presume all the sites are now being run from the UK, so little local knowledge

Hello Chris and welcome to the forum.

I presume you are still in Spain… what’s the weather like… ???

It’s the staff I feel sorry for. I know from a friend that they got royally done over. No pay for working a month, no notice, no redundancy. Just kicked out. Just goes to show that the investors (Jackson and co) really didn’t care a damn about the business, the people or the customers! I truly hope that Jackson and his cohorts took a big bath on it. Good luck to the new owners - I actually used both sites and enjoyed each of them for different reasons.

Excuse me… perhaps you could edit your Registration to give your Full Name… as per T&C… ???

cheers

Oh sorry Yes - I’ll do it now

Done  and sorry

Hello Sarah and welcome to the forum.

It’s always sad when things go wrong… and so often it’s the “little people” who suffer the most.

Hi Stella

Thanks for the welcome. I’ve been a regular reader it never registered or posted. Reading the Angloinfo site today made me realise that I wanted to find an active discussion board. I never contributed on Anglo, being a bit older and generally try and avoid the negativity that sometimes seems to come with the discussion boards but this site looks like it might be a new new home for me.

So true it’s always the people doing the work and I’m sure their best that get the unpalatable end of the stick. For me Angloinfo is in the past

Hello Alina and welcome to the Forum…

It might be best if you were to start a New Topic…(this is an old thread and hardly seems suitable for your enquiries.)

In the New Topic, introduce yourself a little bit and explain what you are seeking… obviously the Title of the New Topic needs to attract folk’s attention.

cheers
