Oddly enough, even intelligent people can be racist.
Given that he explicitly bemoans the loss of the right to discriminate on the basis of race, it’s difficult to see any argument that he wasn’t a racist.
We were going to fly the Ukraine flag on.the building I was working in, we were asked not to because the biggest donor was Russian. (Sorry not jewish but the theory is the same)
I like kindness, understanding, sympathy and those that accept and judge each person as a person. That we group people together based upon some perceived view, often not even a lived experience, says more about us than them. What a sad state of affairs and perhaps part of the reason we have so much conflict in this small world of ours.
One of my favourite things about the current climate is that there is no hiding in the shadows anymore. People have gone full ‘mask off’ and are showing themselves for who they are. I appreciate youre not working anymore but 2016-18 was so great for me as suddenly I knew exactly who I wanted nothing to do with, and so again, my block list, in life as well as on my devices, is ever growing. I’m not sure if I too was a poor judge of character or if I just didn’t want to see who some people are, but either way it’s refreshing when you sharpen up and realise what’s what, drop the evil from your life.
I did realise that, but I was in ranting mode and it opened up the wider point. Life’s too short (literally) to endure this kind of stuff, I think anyway. The older I get the more I realise.
I also changed my mind in 2016, because I saw that failing to engage with people one fundamentally disagrees with leaves the field open to extremists and liars.
Surely the difficulty with this is that it requires prejudice, in that you have already judged the other person a racist?
I suggest that you may not know the details of the era - I grew up during those terrible times and know about it first hand.
Also, I agree wtih @JohnH ‘s replies to your comments. Palestine Action ? Well a couple of people have answered that question as well. I really fail to understand why someone would not be able to accept that Israel’s actions are totally abhorent and the number of people killed in both Gaza and Lebanon are unbelievable.
Invented by a few men for the benefit of a few men.
You only have to watch that creep Russell Brand frantically thumbing through his book of fairy stories that he hopes will somehow reduce the apparent gravity of the (alleged) sleazy abuse he’s being prosecuted for to see for yourself.
Yet it is there in plain sight. Antifa and the extreme right. But how many stabbings , terror attacks,in Europe have been committed by those on the ‘far’ right?
Karl Marx said that in order for Capitalism to survive and prosper, the Capitalist class must divide the proletariat and ensure that the ‘class in itself ’ , does not become a’ class for itself’.
You need to ensure that the proletariat, that is everyone who is not a Capitalist, never recognise they have more in common than they think.
So, that different races are pitted against each other should come as no surprise. You need scapegoats, Hitler did this in the 1930’s and Reform are doing it now with asylum seekers.
And it’s working. In the UK now, scapegoating different groups for all the ills in society takes the heat off the real problem; The Capitalist pursuit of profit without any consideration of the people you trample on to ensure that wealth.
