I am searching for an apartment in Les Landes from Sept. 2026 to May/June 2027. I have a house in the Dordogne, but want a beach holiday apartment. I am an American with stable income. I’ve been a landlord and know how to be a respectful tenant. For some reason, I’m not getting responses on LeBonCoin or SeLoger. If anybody here on SurviveFrance has any leads for me, I would appreciate a message. Thank you in advance. ~MRMead
I’d get in touch with a few immobiliers in the area by phone and ask them what they beed from you to show that you’re a serious tenant. Usually they’ll want a dossier. Have a short holiday and gain trust, otherwise you’ll be at the bottom of their lists for attractive tenant!
It’s not a standard lease length. Too long for a winter let of a holiday apartment, and too short for furnished/unfurnished rentals. You could try looking for bail mobilité places which are max 10 months and emphasise you are on déplacement , ie it is for a second home which is much safer for the landlord. Especially as you are American (and even more if no French sourced income)
You may still need to establish a proper dossier and get a guarantee
One way to ensure your application is accepted is to offer to pay the full rent in advance.
