Applying for 10 year residency

OK. Here we go. We Brits arrived in France Feb 2019, Our 5 year residency card is due to expire. How do we obtain a 10 year Card? British Embassy site is like wading through treacle.

Hello Pamela. There is already a thread on this. You are far from alone.

Do a check through this forum information has already been posted

Presumably a WARP card? When precisely does it expire as you apply 2 months before expiry. The procedure is imminent!

The British Embassy has nothing to do with this, it will be ANEF and your préfecture.

Hello Jane
Numpty Calling
What is ANEF?
merci

It’s the website that the state uses to deal with the affairs of foreigners living in France. Have a look at it.

EDIT: Sorry - should have said - ANEF = AdmiNistration des Etrangers en France (I think!)

However, if your card is a WARP one, which it sounds like it probably is, you need to approach your Prefecture in the first instance. Each one is doing things slightly differently

Rumour has ot that an online ANEF process will be available in most areas very soon.

Hubby has his card due for renewal soon, he’s been given a very general form to fill in, a form to swear allegianceand he’s got to provide:

Evidence of 5 years evolution of water or elec

Statement of pensions, UK take 28 days to get this to you.

Electricity bill

5 years of tax bills

2 photos

Old card

Passport. And has to apply 4 months in advance.

And post it all, but still has to take copies alongto prefecture.

There is a detailed post from the remain in france team on FB prepared by Justine Wallington who is expert. This link does get you to the page even if it looks generic

If you don’t use FB suggest you ask someone who does to show it to you. Very comprehensive.

I won’t copy and paste as not mine.

I don’t have FB so cannot join that group.

Any chance of listing the required documents here?

There seems to be varying info online. I’m hoping to have a visit to our Prefecture soon and want to appear fully prepared. Our dossiers currently holds:

5yr CdS + copy

4 current photos

Passport copy

Birth certificate copy

Marriage certificate copy (to add married surname to card)

Signed Contract d’Engagement

Gas & Electric bill copies 2020-2025

Anything missing??

That will so much depend on your prefecture. When I was posting with questions on here about getting a WARP card from Lot et Garonne, people were saying “you don’t need that!” And I was saying “oh yes I do!”. L&G reuirements ran to 2 pages!

I have asked if I can copy and paste the post over here.

But a useful test is first to check if your prĂ©fecture has anything under dĂ©marchĂ©s simplifies. Ours doesn’t and still has the info for the first request for a WARP card!

Yes, I see that every DĂ©partment has its own way. I’ll send another email to Nora next week. Meanwhile, I’m assembling a dossier with every conceivable content

Have posted the content on a new post

Arcalia, is he British, does he have a five year card and which préfecture, please?? Thanks Claire

He’s British, has a 5 year card . We are in Burgundy. I won’t post our prefecture on an open forum.

Hi Arcalia,

Can’t seem to access the topic again, but was curious because I am the person who ‘invented’ the WARP card system over 7 years ago now and am trying to follow what’s happening, because I still have the connections to try and make it easier for the British who lived here prior to Brexit (and their spouses, and their kids and their dependent family, of course!), and am also the representative for the SW of France (an area the size of Austria!), for the British in France (aka British Community Committee of France.

If I can help, let me know directly.

Best

Claire

I am trying to apply for my first 10year residency card. I have been in France for 5years and have all the documents required for the application but I can’t find what form to complete can anyone please help.

Hello @Andrew_Corbett and welcome to the forum.

Perhaps you could tell us a little about yourself?

for example: You say you have been in France for 5 years
but in what capacity and nationality ?

There are several experts on the forum and a little information from you can help them to ensure you get the correct advice/answers.

Are you British with a Withdrawal agreement card and looking to renew this for a 10 year one, or are you something else and seeking 10 year residency card? Stupid, but slightly different!

For the WARP renewal each préfecture has set up a process, so check their website.

For the 10 year card by other means I think (will have to check) you go to the ANEF site and follw instructions there.
