I got my French driving licence with minimal hassle in 2009, but a friend who wishes to do the same thinks that the requirements have changed. Advice please from someone who has done this very recently.
That should definitely not be required. The UK Driving Licence is a European Licence in the sense it records the same information as that on the French licence in terms of the classes of vehicle the holder is allowed to drive so it is simply a matter of transferring this data; No translation should be required and were the French to require such it would probably be anti-communitaire.
Thanks for that, David. My friend had heard that now you need to have an official translation of your UK licence, whatever that means.
No change as far as I know. Some people are confused because the new photocards have an expiry date but that is for the photo not the licence. Otherwise in sixty years time the eighty year olds would still be displaying their twenty year old selves. Same confusion happens in UK but there you do have to reapply for your licence at (is it seventy,)
