Applying for renewal of Titre de sejour

I was trying to get an appointment(had 1 but had to cancel for some reason) at the prefecture for the renewal application. But not able to get one now. My visa expires on the 7th of April. The most recent appointment I glanced at was on the 21st of April. But it isn’t available now. So does that mean I should exit on the 7th if I am able or not able to get an appointment before that ? I have emailed the prefecture and waiting for a response.

Renewal of what carte de sejour? Many are on line now.

Have you checked your préfecture to see if you can do that way?

@BruceWayne , the procedure we followed was

  1. online application for Titre de Séjour, uploading scanned copies of the relevant documents
  2. receipt of a receipt
  3. confirmation that the application was successful (and a document I could download)
  4. silence
  5. a phone call to the prefecture, because Madame was going to be out of the country when the visa expired; they said TdSs were taking 6-8 months to be issued
  6. an email saying the TdS was ready and asking me to make an appointment at the prefecture to collect it (taking various ID documents and the timbre fiscal).

Have you actually made your application, been told it’s successful and have bought the timbre fiscal?

In any case, Poitiers (our prefecture) was very relaxed about our being here on expired visas, once we’d made successful applications for TdS.

I am in 87. I have a Entrepreneur Profession Liberale visa, cannot be renewed online so have to go to the prefecture.

I would give the prefecture a ring.

In my experience, you’ll rarely get a response to an email. And the French authorities usually want to help and find it easier to do so if they have someone in person, rather than an email.

After refreshing continuously somehow managed to book the 21st April appointment.

Hmmm I’d keep an eye on it if I were you. If there’s any way of verifying ahead that they are prepared for the appointment, try to do so. A few stories on here of people that turned up for appointments at prefectures they had proof of, and prefecture had no record of it, plus I know someone personally that happened to.

Now now don’t give me an heart attack !! But atleast there is an official mail, will throw it at them as proof.

Will email them a week or before to confirm. Or call them up, maybe.
