Our new house has had many nasty surprises. I’m hoping this isn’t another.
Recently we are continually cleaning up these little creatures and they seem to be increasing in number. It is likely that they are coming from behind tiles etc, but we are loathe to remove anything to check as far so every time we have done this we have received a horrible surprise.
Anyone have idea - they look like miniscule thrips.

It looks like bat poo, but if you say thay they are insects, I either need to upgrade my glasses or could you possible take a clearer photo please.
It worries me that you don’t want to ‘investigate further’ a nasty surprise today could be a very nasty surprise in a few years time.
Insects behind plasterboard are usually feeding off cellulose in the plasterboard, or wood.
I think this time you will need to investigate further. Try tapping the area with a screwdriver handle to see what comes out.
Google has a camera search facility, open up a new Google page, you have the option to write, speak or take a photo to ask a question, it’s pretty good.

They are about 1/10th the size of our bat poo. Photo 1 bat poo Photo 2 mystery being.
And yes in an ideal world one should investigate , but we have just demolished a large section of the house from doing just that and are exhausted. As is our bank balance. So unless strong suspicion of something very evil would just like ideas of what it is and how to stop or slow it down for the moment.
Further investigations can come later when we feel stronger.

what happens if you vacuum? do another lot appear later?
Tried to take a better photo, and at least you can see their little legs in this one, They are on average 3mm, and never ending supply it seems as I get rid of them regularly. Rarely see a live one. I wondered about thunderflies - but how does one get rid of them safely? Online there seems to be nothing between the “have a pot of lavender on every surface” and full on chemical warfare
They do look like thrips. We have some in our home at the moment. They’re harmless but annoying. Ours seem to have emerged from a curcuma plant we’ve got inside.
Hi, sorry for the absence, we had some visitors from the motherland.
Alas I too am unaware of these critters, but as long as they are not biting you, or eating your house (they don’t look the type), then one needn’t worry too much. If they are only in the bathroom then I would suggest there might be a damp issue and they are rejoicing on the cellulose of the placo/plasterboard, as would woodlice or silverfish.
Grannie’s online recipies generally should remain with granny, each one will have their own ‘guaranteed’ recipe.
One could treat with diatomaceous earth, or keep vacuuming them us. If you are having the same quantity for several months, then, further investigations would be recommended.
