Article 50 TUE/Article 18(1) Brexit CdS - 5 Year Renewal

 If you are feeling brave enough, you can query this yourself, surely, when you go for your RDV…

I suspect their reply might be… guidelines are guidelines, each Prefecture can add a little something if it deems it necessary…

Hi Chris,

As I understand it individual préfectures are allowed (?) some freedom to impose further requirements. As to why they are asking for tax documents, it is asked for as proof of residence.

I am not against Côte d’Or asking for any proof of compliance to the residence requirements defined in the WA; actually I am for validation as I have met persons boasting that cheated the system to get WA cards both 5-year and 10-year.

I am awaiting the rdv to collect my new card.

This is exactly what it is.

When I go to pick up my card, I will specifically ask. I will let you know.

Does anybody have any idea of the preferred procedure at Nanterre? Is it to use demarche.numerique.gouv.fr.?

The prefecture website appears totally circular in its advice path.

I’m not sure what difference that actually makes. I too have waved my legally obtained residency card and each time my passport has been stamped. Quite frankly I’m not going to bother with the card in the future as usually I’m juggling too many bits and pieces: boarding card, passport, glasses, mobile phone and the residency card is just another “thing” I don’t know what to do with.

Crikey. Mine was stamped the first time I arrived back in France only a few months after Brexit proper, but not since. I did have a close shave when a douanière raised the stamp, but a sharp intake of breath followed by a shake of the head from me stopped her bringing it down. I wondered instantly whether I’d done the wrong thing, but she just smiled at me and gave my passport and TDS back.

Well, if you don’t have your TDS and haven’t registered via EES then you could very well be refused entry to France from tbe UK.

Surely if you are legally resident here with a CdS then stamps are completely meaningless? Your legal right of residence trumps them.

Stamps are only meaningless if you show your CdS at the same time.

I’m more worried about the unnecessary need (and cost!) to have to replace a passport full of stamps. That’s why I always make a point of saying I have my CdS as well as my passport. Had a close shave once or twice, but so far no stamps.

Hello

What did people do with the request of the passport stamps? My stamps are all over the place. Sometimes they stamped sometimes they did not. I am thinking of scanning that the inof pages of my passport but I was wondering if others did it differently or encountered issues when doing that. I am in Nice and they have an online portal. Thanks a lot in advance!

Hello, and welcome. What do you want the scan for? And who is requesting passport stamps? For example, if this is for a nationality application you need ro copy every page, even blank ones.

If for a visa/carte de séjour do they even ask for pages with stamps? Or just the ID page with photo?

Welcome to @Momo also. @JaneJones , for Article 50 renewal. there’s supposed to be a simple document requrement, passport, the CDS, and proof of address. So far so simple. Some of the prefectures are not just asking for the ID page but also

• Passeport en cours de validité (pages relatives à l’état-civil, aux dates de validité et aux cachets d’entrée)

Which is weird if, as we say, they don’t count with the also uploaded CdS. Passport stamps I understand, are considered the first way of establishing presence on French soil, so I understand some nervousness for those with stamps, especially as they are ‘intermittent’.

It’s even more weird as someone could simply provide a brand new passport, sans stamps.

Unlesss it’s being translated wrong, and cachets d’entree means entry visa? It doesn’t say Cachet’s d’entree et de sortie.

Edit - I see Momo has posted ahead of me

Hello it is for the Brexit rediancy card. the exact text from the application is “Justificatif de nationalité
Passeport (pages relatives à l’état civil, aux dates de validité et aux cachets d’entrée) ou attestation émanant du consulat relative à une démarche de renouvellement en cours.” So I assume they want the stamped pages. The problem I am facing is that sometime the passport control officers stamped my passport on other occasions they did not. So the stamps are a real mess. I was wondering if others faced the same problem.

exactly so I do not know what would be the best way to deal with it! should I scan every single page? even if the stamps do not make any sense?

Just today, I’ve picked up my very first 5-year Article 50 Carte de Sejour, so I’m going to set a reminder to come back to this post in 2030 (if fate permits it)

Congratulations! I think you’ve been waiting a while…?

Congratulations John

It’s been not quite a year since I retired and about 10 months since I first put in the request.

Well done John.
Still haven’t met anyone in Stras who’s managed to get one of those since the original deadline. Despite going to the Prefecture armed with a note verbale from the French foreign ministry!
