Audiovisual annual charge

Hello to everyone,
We had our TV socket in our apartment which was tuned to a French TV channel changed to a Sky dish and stopped receiving French programmes.
How do we inform/challenge the annual audiovisual charge as we haven’t actually watched, or are able to watch French tv in our apartment?
Thanks,
Duncan

You can’t, it is a tax for having a TV not watching French channels. It is different from TV licence in the UK.

Having a different decoder may enable you to watch UK and French channels on Astra 2E satellite.

I’m sure that you could just write to them - but, as Mat says, this will not make any difference.

The tax is for having the TV, not what you watch on it.

Thanks for that- so using iPads rather TV may possibly be a way forward?
Anything for. Chance

I don’t know the answer to that.

It’s the actual owning of the TV… that’s what you pay the fee for… whether the TV is used or not makes no difference what so ever …

It’s all here.

Your sky dish will be pretty useless with an iPad.

Happy to get rid of the tv and just use our iPads via the internet. Thanks for everyone’s replies.
Cheers

Every year they discuss modernising it to include computers and other devices but so far they’ve decided against it.
