Austria back in lockdown ☹️

Poor Austrians. My wife and I met my daughter and her husband in Vienna last Friday for a city break. It was great fun and everybody was so kind and cheerful. We were pretty impressed with the rigour that Covid rules were enforced. Even the open air Christmas markets required valid vaccination certs. It’s disappointing that Austria now feels that another lockdown is necessary.

What do people think about manditory vaccination for all Austrians? Will is come to that throughout the EU?

I’m a little biased on multiple counts, but I’m sorry that it needs to be made mandatory - it is always sad to see people having to be forced to do what decency and respect for others if not themselves would require.

It would be a surprise if it could be made compulsory EU wide because several societies have a more intrinsically libertarian approach, although in order to maintain liberty it might be necessary. Having said that, as people move indoors to mingle at this time of year an increase in infection rate is inevitable, and may force the hand of those who would be reluctant.

I think the same as I have ever thought and that it’s contrary to human rights and to bodily autonomy and informed consent and contrary to the Nuremberg code….

I find it ironic that Austria would even consider such a thing in that if people have to produce papers then they have already forgotten but there is a massive pushback not least amongst the Austrian police

And even many of those who went along with two are not necessarily ok with 3 or 3 plus….

And sooooo many definitely not ok as regards children…we will see….

I’d prefer if they were in front of me

LOL….(yeah I know it’s a bit outdated :joy:)

They will no doubt be in front of you and behind you and side by side with you…

Its a pantomime, well its nearly Christmas.

I would prefer it if they were 100 yards from me in any direction :yum::thinking:

If you have been jabbed its very unlikely to kill you, you would need some pretty bad pre existing health problems like T2 diabetes or bad asthma.
Otherwise it just has bad flu symptoms and there are medications that can alleviate most of it.
We are going to have to learn to live with it rather than run from it. At the beginning we were all a bit frightened but they know so much more about it and repurposed drugs to treat symptoms.

My mum in U.K. has type 1 diabetes and I have worried every time….she had her two AZ’s the first of which maybe or maybe not related put her in hospital for just short of 6 weeks…she has just had her third AZ and now fending off hospitalisation with a second course of antibiotics….(I am praying that this second course works because once she is hospitalised for whatever reason she always gets pneumonia in hospital)

I have to say her doctor is wonderful as are the team of district nurses and follow up and physiotherapists and the provision of equipment and lung specialists and podiatrists and subsequent neurological referrals have been first class….

The agency nurses fight amongst themselves to visit her because she’s just so kind and thoughtful and they love that she knows all their names and their children’s names and their dogs and cats names and their in-laws circumstances….

She got a call today from the hospital neurologist….a cancellation tomorrow and did she want to come to it….as she has waited for months she was very tempted to say yes but had to say no as family and friends are all set up for the late December appt she was initially given…

Interesting as the preferred 3rd jab is the pfizer/moderna to give a wider spectrum of cover.
Hope she feels better soon as pneumonia is so dangerous at anytime of year but especially around winter.
Amended, thanks Izzy.

My first 2 were Astrazenica and my 3rd was Moderna which I had last Saturday. No side effects from the 3rd apart from a sore arm. I’m in the UK.

Yes, I had two AZs and a Moderna booster last week. I’ve a sore arm too

Ouch! It really was very sore as well, for several days. Not as bad as the pneumonia vaccine though, that was horrendous. Barely slept for several nights the pain was so bad. Really glad I never have to have that one again. Hope yours is better soon.

I’ll get the flu shot in the other arm next week. Got to get a sense of balance :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I stand corrected…

I manage her NHS app for prescriptions etc but have had a nightmare for several weeks as my newish phone developed a problem receiving the access code…(still unresolved so far) so I’ve changed the number to my old phone which has a severely cracked screen held together mostly by superglue and sheer determination….

She was told that her booster was AZ but her records show it was Pfizer….

As they should be in the queues for vaccination.
Not taking your share of, as you see it, risk is totally selfish.
Those who say that they will not be forced to do it by the State, will drive away after putting on their seat belt and will have paid their taxes, hopefully. If people cannot see that this thing will go on and on for ever causing misery, both personal and economic to so many people, it is no wonder that compulsion will be necessary.

John invited thoughts….I replied with my thoughts…

I do not consider myself selfish in any way and probably have done more than most as I know that current injections are not preventing infection or transmission….(bill gates recently said the same in conversation with Jeremy hunt and the WHO are not recommending any booster shots…it’s an “interesting tension”…)

There are new generation injections currently in development…Dr Robert Malone is working with India on one of them…

Whilst I think I had the infection in late 2019 early 2020 I am also researching any test that would show this….maybe T-detect but I’m not so far able to source this in the EU….

As anyone will note from my comments many of my family have taken at least one maybe two…maybe they are on three but it has not been without consequence….the latest update from my Canadian family is that my sister’s husband has no feeling in his dominant hand and is unable to work….

I continue to be amazed at how many of the people you are in contact with have had bad reactions.

I know…! And I do so wish that it wasn’t the case….

I’m not even going to update the results for my partner’s sister dying in her sleep at 52 because I can’t process it in my mind and the autopsy results suggest a connection to the booster she felt pressurised to take and her only son is making some bad choices right now as regards his mother’s wishes for her funeral which are excluding all immediate family….I try to remain open to every one’s circumstances but this is a very real division that is impacting and causing a dreadful division and I don’t know how to stop it
