I’d generally lead to agreement but in Badenoch’s case I’m not sure. She has chosen a political party where the colour of her skin might be viewed as a disadvantage and, to be honest, I think she over compensates for this - which does come over as having something of a “chip on shoulder” attitude. She’s not the only brown skinned Tory politician with this problem.
Personally I find her quite the hypocrite, given the circumstances of her arrival in the UK.
I think you mean she’s not the only politician, her skin colour is irrelevant.
‘Having a chip on your shoulder’ is a characteristic often assigned by white people to black people who, often quite rightly, air their grievances when they have been discriminated against or treated unjustly.
My 6 year niece, who is black, was said by her teacher to have ’ a bit of a chip on her shoulder ’ , when she complained that other girls, in her otherwise entirely white class, wouldn’t play with her, or sit by her, because she was black.
It’s a stereotype and it serves only to dismiss legitimate grievances.
Fair enough - I should have said “with this particular chip on her shoulder”
Please don’t get me wrong, I do not dislike Badenoch because she is black. I dislike her because she is a hypocrite. Braverman also.
It must be nice to have found the only political party which is completely hypocrite-free!
No, I don’t think there is one of those. But both Badenoch and Braverman would close the door they themselves came through.
I was considered a particularly well balanced child, I had a chip on both shoulders… boom, boom ![]()
The heat must be getting to me. I see Korean the stock market plummeted today. Memory chips will be… eh.. as cheap as chips soon
Is this the first crack in the AI dam? I’ll see what ChatGPT thinks.
