Bakker Garden plants - anyone actually 'won' anything from them

I have received Bakker's spring catalogue and because I have occasionally bought things from them, I am supposedly a special customer. They have asked me to scratch three places on a 'cheque' and told me that I will be the winner of €4,900 if everything under the scratchs say this amount, my name and there is a special code number.

I have checked every piece of paper sent with this advice and nowhere can I find that it is a competition, draw or that I am competing with anyone else. IT ACTUALLY SAYS THAT I WILL HAVE WON THIS MONEY - I scratched and found all the information they are asking for so I have won ! But have I ? I am going to send off the scratched cheque and the signed Bordereau d'Expedition de Cheque and wait and see.

Has anyone had any experience of Bakker and do they genuinely give out prizes of this type. I really don't believe they do.

I am not stupid and ever suspicious of every possible scam so I suspect that this is also a deception and if so I will not be buying from this company again.

The "Bakker" garden catalogue is an ancient tradition in my native country; it goes back to 1960's. The question about the prizes (monetary or otherwise) goes back to about that same era.

But nevertheless I keep ordering plants from them from time to time, especially those who are extremely costly in France, as the quality of their products is far superior. *chauvinist mode off*

All I know is that I used to have their catalogue unsolicited and never bought from them. The price of their seeds was up to four times as much as brand names in our local large garden centre which was enough to put me off.
