Banking OTP

It’s incredulous that every time a Jour feries comes along I can’t receive an OTP from Cater Allen via Bouygues Telecom, for me that’s the only bank affected, does it really need to pass through some human hands, or am I missing something?

what is OTP???

It’s a code one receives by SMS needed by some banks to carry out transactions.

One Time Password

Does it only happen on bank holidays, or is it more of a general failure, and it just happens to coincide with a bank holiday. I noticed last year in Canada that I couldn’t receive OTPs from my French bank via SFRs local service provider (Rogers). I was wondering whether it is because when roaming, there is some kind of service level contract between operators that isn’t necessarily co-opted or respected by the local provider of wherever one happens to be, and therefore fails to get sent on to the end point.

That might well be related to Rogers being one of the shittest mobile networks on the planet. They were shit when I lived in Canada and, according to friends there, they haven’t improved.

Thank you Stella, saved me from making a mug of myself again. Oh, I just have.
Anyway, my investigations came up with a variety, thus:
On The phone, and, One Trick Pony, as well as One Time Password.
BTW (see what I did there?) I think Google might have something like that going because yesterday they asked me to confirm my various fall back email addresses. I did all that and then they asked me for my password. I consulted the oracle (a memory stick) and duly typed in what was listed.
Not accepted, so sod’em.

Bouygues Telecom appears to be privately owned by Martin Bouygues and its employees!

Just bank holidays, we are talking about a French Mobile, with a French number and a French Telecom company (Bouygues Telecom) it only happens on Jour Feries (the OTP’s arrive the day after Cater Allen is an old private bank in the UK though I believe it’s now a subsidiary of Santander.

If it is any consolation, my French bank often struggles to get remote card payment validation working correctly on a Monday, precisely when it is shut. If only for this reason, I was forced to open a second business account with a different bank, as a back up! Whether it is an IT admin (weekend maintenance) problem, or another cyberattack, they will never fess up to anything - this is the Caisse d’Epargne by the way.
