Bordeaux, my little boy and me

Hello all

I separated a few months ago from my long term partner. Naturally our 3 and a half year old son went to live with her. Sad times, but I'm feeling better now. Luckily she moved only 5 minutes away so I still get to see plenty of my little boy, both in the week and at weekends. I live in Martillac, 20 minutes from Bordeaux. I'm british and my ex is French so my little boy is bi-lingual.

A number of my friends have either moved away or are moving away from Bordeaux. Some of these friends have young children who my son used to play / do activities with. I really want my son to have some English speaking children of his age to play / do things with and also I would love to meet other people.

Is there anybody reading this who is in my position or can offer any other advice.

My profile pic is of me and my boy!

Yours

Stuart, there's also the ICB, International Club of Bordeaux which has a toddlers group and does quite a few activities where children are welcomed. www.icbordeaux.fr

yes James I use facebook!

Stuart, I have a contact for you, do you use Facebook?

Too far to be of any practical help - sorry but I too have a complicated situation (14 yr old lives with his dad - visitation/hebergement rights with me, and my 5 yr old his dad and I have shared custody - long story but about to go to court AGAIN to settle things once and for all) Should you ever want any practical or moral support there is a group on Facebook - Single Parents In France

Hi Stuart, I live in 30 minutes from you, pm me.

Sorry to hear that Stuart, I'm too far away in the Tarn and mine don't speak much, if any, English.

I'd be interested if there are are any English speaking kids (mine are nearly 7 and 5) in the Ségala (tarn/aveyron). We live in Mirandol-Bourgnounac and work in Carmaux (6.5 days a week so we have very little spare time!).

Hi Stuart, you could join the Bordeaux branch of InterNations (dot org). It's an organisation which connects expats and global minds, and is English-speaking. You're sure to meet other Anglophone parents. There's a get-together on June 30, so if you join (free), you could go along and check it out.
