Thank you, John.
We’d be delighted if the doctors proposed doing anything!
Since he’s not showing any unusual thyroid results on his blood tests, they’re just leaving it to grow. He’s not even been sent to see an endocrinologue.

Danielle since it seems you are not getting very far with the mainstream medical system, are you prepared to consider going off piste? The symptoms you mention from weight, diabetes, eyesight and neurolical issues etc can all be helped in many cases with a ketogenic intervention, it certainly would not cause any additional problems and is a known treatment to put diabetes into remission. Studied at length by the John Hopkins University in the US with many successful outcomes.
Absolutely !
Have just been reading up, had no idea it had such potential effects !
Have used keto myself in the past for weight control, so am familiar with the protocol.
Sam seems up for it…
Can you change your MT? Would it help?
Would love to but not a single one in our area is taking patients. We’re already doing a 40km round trip to see the one we have got.
The Mairie spent a fortune building a new medical centre in our village to attract a doctor, it has stood empty for 18 months despite a population of at least 5 - 7,000 people around here who would gladly be patients.
Asked for help from the CPAM which was refused and their social assistant says they are aware of the problem but there’s nothing she can do….
Me neither Danielle. I guess my French consultant, a charming lady, just believed in “if in doubt, whip it out”.
I’ve just had a op on a lung due to a (German practising in Ireland
) pulmonologist with the same philosophy. My French pulmonologist was more sanguine, but my German one turned out to be right. A bullet dodged ![]()
Have you considered/is it a possibility it is long Covid?
Hi Billy,
Yes, he had Covid 5 times and doctor says it is possible but cannot confirm it… so it remains one possibility among many that are neither being ruled in or out
I read in studies that up to 75% of people who have thyroid tumours that should be removed don’t have anomalies showing in their blood tests.
When I presented that to the doctors, I just get the usual shrug (“she’s one of those who thinks she knows better..'“)
It’s driving me potty. Instead of the “let’s do everything we can to make this man more comfortable” attitude, all we get is the “let him become a dependant, ever more handicapped person” route
I go into every appointed with a “so what are we going to do next “ question and come out screaming in frustration
Not unusual for women with endometriosis.
I was asymptomatic until it became severe.
I only got diagnosed when Jim changed jobs and we had private medicine.
You can demand to see your medical notes and see just what she is writing about you.
Do you have a group practice, if so ask to see another doctor?
Do you get pain in your lung?
I have pain and sometimes a real jab from where they did my biopsy and took some of the surrounding lung .
I consider that just being dismissive and rude to women. The doctors not you
Male doctors often don’t understand many of the problems women have. Actually, not just doctors…
Actually bad training.
My gynecologist dismissed the Endometriosis Society as women hugging hot water bottles, even though he treated me well.
What was apparent in all our stories was that most of us had food intolerance and hormonal problems, which is what they seem to be finding in Lyon.
We could have saved them forty years.
Which does seem to be pivotal in many people’s health in so many ways.
I don’t think he’s even interested enough to write anything down ![]()
There is a good doctor in the practice, we had her once and she was the first and only to order tests for Sam.
Request to transfer to her refused as everyone is doing the same.

But surely, as a woman you need to discuss your personal and sensitive health issues with a female doctor - how can they refuse transferring you (and your husband of course)?
I don’t particularly have a problem with having a male doctor. Doesn’t bother me, they’ve seen all of me already ![]()

But it’s understandable that the one good doctor in the practice can’t see ALL the patients.
Unfortunate for us … but understandable given the lack of available doctors in a medical desert
I was thinking it was a way of being transferred to what seems to be the one competent doctor in the practice.
But that’s not your problem. Your task is to get your husband in front of a competent doctor that is going to take his case seriously and find solutions for you, so that you both have better quality of life.
