How much work are you having done? If it’s a large job, it might be worth having a project manager/maitre d’oeuvre to manage things locally, as several of us here have done. It’s their job to organise estimates and paperwork and to co-ordinate with the artisans. I wouldn’t have wanted to be in charge of making sure a team of people turned up at the right time or didn’t go missing, plus the maitre d’oeuvre is French.
We found ours through the estate agent sho sold us the house, I don’t know about other people here. And although we were kiving locally while the work was done, he was worth his weight in gold.
