We have just got our Carte grise. do we get the French number plates our self,or does a garage have to make and fit.

Oh yes David, quite right - the rivets.

Easier to get the local garage/tyre fitter/exhaust fitter to make up and fit because they have to be rivetted on to the car not screwed à l'anglais.

Yep, find a place that makes them and present your carte gris, et voila.
