Changes in speed limits

Madame, Monsieur,

Dear,

The measure is now almost unanimously contested …

  • by the drivers, obviously, whose incessant demonstrations are abundantly relayed in the media,
  • by specialists, including accident specialists, who consider that the general 80 km / h is useless1,
  • by the deputies, including the majority, who propose alternative solutions,
  • by local elected representatives - 28 departments request the withdrawal of the measure!
  • by the senators who refuse the diktat of the 80 km / h and come to audition your association to know all the arguments against this retrograde measure …

… but the Prime Minister locks himself in his ivory tower: I decided, a point that’s all!

It’s not acceptable !

Be careful to note the speed limits as you zip by… no need to get fined…:zipper_mouth_face:

There was a trial reduction of the speed limit on the Rennes ring-road last year that was ultimately reversed - I didn’t see the exact results and I’m not sure where they were published, but I believe there was no significant positive impact on either safety or traffic flow, so they abandoned the idea.

been forced off the road many a time in the UK and France on these rural roads with no marking many a time. it wont get policed the roads are too rural.

Sadly, Harry, some drivers will never heed the call to reduce speed, alcohol, drugs etc etc when at the wheel of their car… it is the same in so many countries… and it makes it difficult/dangerous for the other road users. Especially galling for those who DO make the effort…

on Thursday I picked up my son from school and went to the town to get a few things.

we entered a 30 zone by the big school and slowed down. A car a few cars back then over took me and several other cars so I beeped my horn only to have an angry little man (and i say little he was about 5 foot, slam his brakes on and start ranting we were going too slow, waving his fists about. I got out of the car as I could go nowhere as he was blocking the road. Now im not big but im also not little. He became much calmer though. I then pointed him to my 360 camera and informed him im dropping in at the gendarme, followed by switch apologies from him. Yes i did drop the footage to them too. Dangerous drivers need to be dealt with.

Drink and drugs are not the worst part of it, just angry people rushing around with no regard for anyone else but themselves.

Nasty happening Harry… glad you got it sorted.

normally I would just drive round them but unfortunately a car he cut off coming opposite stopped also and had traffic behind him and i had stuff behind me s i was going nowhere. ive provided my 30 footage on several occasions to other drivers and the police. its always warmly received by them and the victims.

Can you give us your camera details, please, Harry. Might be useful for drivers to know what is on offer… and it sounds like yours works well… :relaxed:

mine is a instaair360 and it sits on top of my smart phone.

I also use caropro which links to a rear and front camera

the insta air make sure you get right one and check phone compatibility.

not all phones have OTG (onthego) tech. I had to change phone so i could get one that worked with the camera.

Interestingly, the first photo was taken near me. Mazamet is our local town.

This is a ridiculous change in my opinion. The majority of people already observe the current speed limit and those that don’t will continue not to because IT IS NOT POLICED.

The money should have been spent on more cameras or Police in order to police the current speed limits.

Many vehicules will not be happy at 80 kph, in between 4th and 5th gear, not great for fuel economy :unamused:

Not to mention sixth!

And the cost of changing all the “speed signs”, 65€ to 350€ each, depend on the size ! And it doesn’t include the labour !

Completely agree, enforce the 90, this from one who was ‘awarded’ a point a few months ago, hands up, my fault :slightly_smiling_face:
