Froome has always been unpopular and seen as an outsider, could it be the French are scared of him winning again?
Or, playing devil’s advocate, he’s a dirty drugs cheat who deserves to be banned.

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty. Still no date for the hearing into his alleged wrongdoing.
I agree Chris. I can’t believe it has taken 9 months and still no conclusion on this. This needs to be resolved one way or the other.
He’s taken part in, and won races since the Vuelta. Presumably he’s been tested and found to be clean. I don’t know what the hold up is regarding his hearing but I would have thought that it’s in everyone’s interests to get it sorted ASAP.
If it was an anabolic steroid or the drug he took been on a banned list then I would agree with Mandy but Froome is one of a huge number of pro cyclists who have asthma and need medication to relieve the symptoms. It’s a difficult call to say he benefitted from taking the medication in such a high quantity but I guess if he hadn’t then his performance might have suffered, shame really because he will now always be tainted even if proven innocent.
Lance Armstrong never failed a drugs test either Chris.
It’s hard not to be cynical when there have been so many people who have abused drugs in cycling and especially after the Bradley Wiggins saga. Even the great Sky supporter David Walsh believes that he cheated.
I imagine it is a fine line with this particular drug so maybe the doctors failed Froome by allowing him to take too much. I guess the point is we don’t know because it’s taking so long to get it sorted.
Let’s face it, it’s hard not to be cynical about participants in many sports at the moment.
