You would have to be extremely unlucky to be stopped especially if you are in France profonde but the real risk is with your insurance which I am pretty sure would not be valid on the 3 days.

I see the idea of controlling cars over 10years old is being discussed this year to having them CTâd every year aka UK style instead of the current two years for cars.
Of course, if the CT is out of date⊠the vehicleâs insurance will not cover anything but Third PartyâŠ

At the moment many older cars have even longer between CT tests. At 30 years old if registered as a VdC itâs five years and at some point the need for a CT disappears completely.
Hey Johnboy, Iâve been in a similar situation before where my CT was booked just before the deadline. As long as youâve got the confirmation and itâs within the required time frame, you should be fine. Iâd recommend giving them a quick call just to double-check that everythingâs good, especially since theyâre on congĂ©s until the 3rd. Better safe than sorry, but it should work out no problem.

Mine is due on my old 207 on 1 Nov.
If I get a CT on 15 Oct and a 'majorâproblem is discovered giving me 2 months to fix and reinspect, and it takes me until 30 Nov to fix it and reinspect, am I late? In other words does having a major extend the clock (or should you plan for it)?
(* Florida actually had vehicle inspections for a short time in the mid 70s. A number of state owned inpection facilities (not enough) were established an we were required to inspect vehicles every 6 MONTHS. This was before computers and there was no way to make appointments. As you might imagine, this was not a popular program and within 2 years it was over. Never to be replaced.)
You should really plan to get known defects fixed before the CT. However, you can wait until the expiry date to get it done and then you get 2 months from that date to have a contre-visite.
What happens to the expiry date for the future CTs? Would it be 1 Nov? What if I went in 2 months early and passed?
CTs expire 2 years after the date of the actual test. So if you have the CT 2 months early, then your next test will be due on the 2nd anniversary of that date, not 2 years after the date the original test was due.

I donât really look in the CT as an inconvenience or an âexamâ just to be passed. I think itâs a relatively inexpensive check that the car is safe.
After a lifetime of fiddling and fettling cars Iâm well versed in all aspects of them, buy Iâve always been particularly anal about the safety aspects, tyres, brakes, steering, suspension, etc. Things like track rods, tie bars, bushings, CV joints, etc. need a regular good inspection.
if you have have any concerns about the roadworthiness of your car Iâd really encourage you, for peace of mind, get a CT ASAP.
I agree. I was a pretty good hobby mechanic back in the States. I have rebuilt several engines, automatic transmission as well as rebuilding suspensions and steering. I even had a two-post lift installed in my garage. Even had a DS at one point. But Iâm stuck in a rental here and have no place to work or many tools. That said, I would be surprised if my 207 had any major roadworthiness issues. I think I have experienced enough of them in 50 years of driving, tearing them apart and rebuilding them to know if something is really off , and Iâm not getting that vibe.
I rebuilt a manual box a couple of times, but never strayed into the world of automatics. Too many bands and fluid galleries for me to get my head around
