Cycle the Canal du Midi and support CSF!

From 7 - 11 June 2015 a cycle ride has been organised along 240km of the Canal du Midi from Toulouse to Marseillan.

The event is being organised by Cancer Support France, a network of associations providing support for English-speaking people living in France affected by cancer. Different groups will lead different stages, which starts from the Ponts-Jumeaux in Toulouse on 7 June and ends at the Mediterranean port of Marseillan on 11 June.

There is no fee to join the event and any sponsorship is optional but greatly appreciated. Lunches will be organised along the way, along with support vehicles for bike repairs and spares.

Participants can join for just one stage or for the full 5 days.

Just a quick update to confirm that Registration is open www.csfcanaldumidi.org/register!

Also, there was a good Q&A on the Facebook page yesterday with Freewheeling France replying to several queries about fitness and preparation for the ride fb.com/csfcanaldumidi

Hi Eleanor - cycling the 240km is not obligatory - it is possible to do just one stage! (they are about 50km each) More details will be available soon - anyone can take part, more details will be released soon on the website www.csfcanaldumidi.org As for fitness it's probably a good idea to have a little bit of experience 'on the saddle' before taking part !! but it's organised to be a fun event not a competition :-)

This sounds great. What sort of level of fitness are you expecting the cyclists to have when they start ? Or, can one start with a low fitness and use the 240km to get fitter .... for life ? I would like to know more details about the ride, as well as who qualifies to do the ride?
