We need to decommission a fosse and have been told it just needs emptying and filling with sand. Has anyone any idea of the cost of this?

The cost depends on a few things …
The size - emptying can cost between 200 and 500 euros
Can you fill it yourself/get the materials?. Sand is cheap direct from the quarry, about 10 euros/tonne but delivery can be as much again .
Is it concrete or plastic since that might influence your de-commissioning options.
We filled our old concrete fosse with rubble topped with calcaire.
just filled in an old tank with soil and brick rubble.

Not an expert, but grandpa used the old fosse as a rainwater cistern (after emptying it of course) by diverting the downpipes to the fosse and using a submersible pump to get water to the garden.
