Yesterday morning as we were leaving to go shopping at Bram market we found one of our deputy mayors outside the house, delivering a new dustbin. He had noticed that one of ours had no lid. He then walked back to the centre of the village pulling the old bin behind him. How about that for service?
Not here, I’m told. But I guess/hope we pay less Taxe d’Habitation…
Bins are emptied twice a week, the recycling box once a week and extra large bags of garden rubbish, old furniture etc are collected once a month if you ring the Mairie in advance.
Amazing, given in the village where I’m living we don’t get a dustbin collection, but have to take our rubbish to various big communal bins! Anything recyclable has to be taken separately by car to a centre I have yet to find.
