Electricity time of use flexible tariff

Anyone have any knowledge of time of use tariffs in France, things where overnight etc the price drops considerably from normal daytime pricing?

Tempo overnight times are 22.00 to 0.600

Isn’t that offset by higher pricing at other times though? Higher than plein.

Tempo tariff is offset by the 22 Red Days where you try not to switching more than a 5W LED bulb on between 06h00 - 22h00.

EDF also have a Zen Weekend Plus HP/HC tariff where you pay the off peak rate all weekend.

All the prices are in the link by @NotALot above. For me, tempo is a no-brainer but just need to be a bit careful on the 22 red days which are only between November and March.

Looking at the Octopus fr website, if you surrender your hot water cylinder to be run by Octopus you get it powered at an lower off peak charge. This looks like you are not penalised by increased pricing at other times. As the water heater is our most expensive to run household item it could bring some savings.

I have mine set to run between 03h30 and 05h30, so that it always costs the least to heat water.

It’s worth pointing out that off-peak cost on a feared Red Day is only a quarter of a cent dearer per kWh than off-peak on Tariff Blue and cheaper than Zen Weekend Plus off-peak.

Would I have Tempo again at a smaller property that didn’t need 18kVA 3 phase at the cheapest rate possible during the summer months? Probably not, just for not having to time washing machine/dishwasher use for after 22h00 on Red Days.

Apparenty EDF may bring in a tariff with some heures creuses during the day which might suit EV owners. But of course if they move 4 or 5 hours to heures creuse in the day it might leave less than the charging period available overnight in a low rate period, for those who only want to charge overnight.

I’ve not seen any more about it since early this year.

Personally, I don’t stress about the calendar and the times. Several EDF competitors are cheaper; you just need to run some simulations on their websites.

I will be checking Mint against Octopus and EDF
I like an occasional audit.

In my case, the cheapest option was here and they are perfect.

For your times infortunately you will need to check with your supplier though it may well show up in your online account. Even in the same area they vary - we have three 12kw supplies in to us to cover our house and our gites on the same site…and the off peak times are not identical.

As to them changing…it is meant to be happening over next 12 months or so to reflect having plenty of solar power on summer afternoons. We will all see when it actually happens.

It is shown on your bill, paper or on-line.

I know what my bill shows, the point was about different off peak/flexible tariffs.

Sorry Corona, misunderstood

No problem, as I said, I like an audit of outgoings from time to time. Octopus impress in the UK so wondered about France and others, currently we are with Mint so must keep up to date with offers.

We use Octopus in the UK and they are excellent. Customer service is great

Likewise in the UK, I suppose that’s what brought the interest, what can they do in France? Old stick in the mud companies are often the last to give better deals.
