Etiquette Question - Baking my Doctor a Cake

My old doctor(retired) loves christmas pudding and appreciated the ones we gave him over the years.

From the other side of the fence - as an English teacher I have been given by my French students:

Cakes - home made and shop bought
Wine
Champagne
Pate and foie gras
Flowers
A jug from Portugal
A brooch
And chocolates!!

So I think the gift giving thing crosses all national boundaries, and French people tend to love carrot cake!

A few years ago an ex patient used to bring home made cakes into the orthopaedic wards every Friday afternoon. They were gorgeous

Not quite the same thing… … but I have been asked to take lots of mincemeat-slice next weekend at Bergerac Bourse d’Échange (car bits and bobs).

My pals love the “goût de Noël” …:hugs:
