Extreme weather conditions in Aquitaine and the Midi-Pyrénées

Wind seems to have paused here in Tarn-and-Garonne, but now it's spookily dark outside. It's still so mild, but seemed odd to run around in t-shirt when the gales were blowing! Just saw that thunderstorms are forecasted later today, but then the forecast changes about avery two hours at the moment. We just go with the blow (rather than the flow)

Very windy last night in north Gers - couple of kms from Landes and Aquitaine borders - but just wet, wet and more wet today. Hope it stays that way [well, without the wet bit!] as memories of Tempete Klaus are still vivid.

Wind lasted roughly 40 hours from build up to the crescendo during last night. Trees down and a few villages cut off, power off in a lot of communes but we escaped somehow. Lalinde was without power although when I arrived it was back on except at the primary school where something else must have gone wrong. Kids went in anyway (phew). The wind itself was so warm I was in t-shirt, shorts and sandals and penty of other people too. We shall simply need a new garden umbrella type shade next year since the one we have was blown inside out, the wooden rays broken in several places and that was with it down and out of direct wind...

Very very wet here in North Dordogne. Very windy during the night but no apparent structural damage. Touch wood and pray for a miracle - no power outages *yet* - which is amazing considering that most local lines are draped from trees or any other handy thing!

Just driven home along autoroutes from outside Condem - Gers into Toulouse and into the mountains home to near Carcassonne. Very bad driving conditions and difficult to keep car on the road. Lots of trees down but french workers out clearing them as fast as they can. Just take great care. Here in Aude obviously been tons of rain and wind but quiet now and dark!

Absolutely horrendous here in the Tarn & Garonne 82 as well. Winds in excess of 100kmph. It is dark all day here but bizarrely the wind is really warm. We have no rain yet but we are expecting it any time and it looks like the wind will continue in to tomorrow. Anything not tied down here disappears in the wind. Even our heavy weight patio set has been blown right the way across the garden We have since collected and out it in doors and tied everything else down. and we have had trees come down in the garden, thankfully not next to the house and some newly planted shrubs have been ripped out of the ground. Will be glad when it ends.

no tornado, storm, freak waves, or volcanic eruptions here in Haute Savoie, but it did snow last monday, freeze hard tuesday, and the trees are only starting to go brown now.

That, to me, is extreme. We had no mushrooms, and no autumn. :(

Last Saturday evening there was a tornado in Deux Sevres at St Hilare de Voust. A few people lost their roofs.

no power for 30 minutes. My mother back home has no power for several hours as regurlarly as once a week. (usually on sundays, for some reason).

It was a bit windy here in the Gers yesterday afternoon and last night but we were lucky as nowhere near what is reported above. Had some heavy rain earlier but all calm now, fingers crossed. Hope it eases off for everyone else soon.
