Financial adviser

Has David Lawson left deVere France? (his email autoreply says "I am away from the business until the 7th January. ", but we are already in April)

Thank you

Hi,

I have left deVere and am working in the UK for Quilter and I start tomorrow. I am just finalizing FCA fit and proper tests at which point I’ll know if I can continue to support the forum moving forward.

If not @cat will be looking for someone to fill the role.

Ah remember that well, put you off changing company

Hi David
Thank you very much for your quick reply!
Will you still be working with French residents going forward ?
Thank you

No I won’t be able to advise people directly, I may be able to help in the forum still but not working in France might mean my knowledge becomes out of date anyway.

Oh, that’s a bummer((.
Good luck Dave with your test and your career ahead !
Do you have any tips for finding a reputable (and independent) financial adviser in France?

Good luck in your future employment Dave.
Perhaps others might take note of your concern in providing out of date knowledge and information from past employment, experience.

Good luck Dave. Will you at least be living in France if not working here?

Thanks you

Hi, it all comes down to finding a person you trust that is level 4 fully qualified adviser. Ideally through the CII route (instead of CISI or LIBF) their acronyms will be dipPFS after the name.

In the EU to be on a licence you don’t need this level of qualification but I think it’s important to show that you have a good understanding of financial planning so if you get someone with this qualification then you’ll be on the right track.

Stay away from advisers not actually based in France as it’s likely they will be passporting in and won’t know the specifics for France. I’ll try and find a few to consider talking to

Remember to disable the higher logic circuits before you leave, Dave.

Best wishes for the new job!

That’s a great tip re dipPFS , Dave. I didn’t know that ! Thank you very much for pointing in a right direction

What became of the old MLIA Dip Dave?

I believe it was the old diploma, not us through PFS. Level 4 equivalent is good as you need to cover the main areas to have it.

Ooh does that make me and old diplomat :joy:
