FREE customers - be vigilant

Just seen the alert that Free customer’s data has been hacked worldwide and sold to other criminals. The company says IBAN info especially has been sold so warning to be checking regularly about any un authorised bank payments, demands either by email or mobile phone for bank details and the other usual security stuff. If you have suspicious goings-on, contact your bank or the national cybersecurity office or even the gendarmerie locally.

I’ve received the warning email from Free, you probably have too?
Any experiences/advice to share here with other Free mobile clients…?

Thanks for the heads up! I honestly had no idea about any of this. I’ll definitely be reaching out to citywide banks customer service later to go over the whole situation and get a clearer picture. The last thing I want is to end up unknowingly involved in some kind of scam or security issue. It’s always better to double-check with the bank directly to make sure everything is legit, so thanks again for bringing it to my attention.

I’m with FREE and didn’t know about this. Identity theft asides, surely the iBan woud only allow for incoming payment and not outgoing without access to a bank account and any other security details?

just one of the various papers/sites which keep us abreast of News…

I definately have not received anything at all from Free either by SMS, mobile call or email regarding this hacking. I learned about it from an online news site one morning and the as above in Ouest France.
